Zimbabwe Covid -19 escalates to 160

The number of Zimbabwe’s Covid 19 positive cases are continously flactuating,with 11 more patients testing positive for the deadly pandemic.

9 of the recently recorded 11 positive cases, are returnees from Botswana and South Africa and 2 are local cases.

These 11 new cases sums up to 160 Covid -19 positive cases with 29 recoveries and four deaths.

Results show that most positive cases are being recorded mostly on returnees from neighbouring South Africa and Botswana respectively.

This week alone ,the country recorded a sharp spike on recorded positive cases with the numbers escalating up from 56 to 132.

From the look of things quarantine centres have become Covid-19 hotspots, with great concerns that internal spread of the disease are taking place since it houses both positive and negative returnees on their arrival at the centre.

Gweru Urban member of Parliament Brian Dube confirmed that 18 people escaped from a quarantine facility in Midlands province and among them was a baby.

Currently, more than 120 selfish people have fleed from isolation centers throughout the country endangering other responsible citizens to the deadly Covid pandemic.

National police spokesman Assistant Commissioner, Paul Nyathi has since confirmed that police have already staged a manhunt for more than 100 people who escaped from quarantine centers.

“These returnees escape and sneak into villages, we are strongly warning members of the public to decist from accomodating them,”

Ass Comm Paul Nyathi articulated that” these escapees are becoming a serious threat to communities”.

Acting permanent secretary in the Ministry of Health and Child Care Dr Gibson Mhlanga reiterated that ,in a bid to reduce internal spread among returnees the ministry has put in place measures within isolation centres,by separating the infected patients from those who are negative for Covid 19.

Health and Child Care Minister, Dr Obadiah Moyo has confirmed before the parliamentary portifolio committee that quarantine centres have become a source or danger.
