Prodigious Zim raggae lyricist Tingz (Rasta Cry) broke his long silence articulating that he is still around strong as a fiddle and is composing more classic raggae hits the way Jah planned it.

Born Herbet Makuni, “Tingz” as he is affectionately known by his legion of fans says music runs in his blood and its an in born thing that no one can take away from him come what may.

In a lengthy interview with 263Bulletin, from his Chitungwiza base ‘Rasta Cry‘ hitmaker reiterated that he is working on more singles and videos which are going to drop soon.

“I am working full time despite the deadly Covid-19 induced lockdown, as Fire Army crew we are adhering to all the stipulated Covid-19 precautionary measures, wearing of masks, mantaining social distancing and sanitizing”, said Tingz.

Tingz did not mince his words articulating that his music is inspired by his daily encounters in the ghetto, hence he is compelled as ghetto mouth piece to express what he comes across in form of music as his mission is edutainment in the society.

“A lot of youths in the ghetto are indulging in shocking and disheartening shenanigans and these have prompted me to record ‘Ndachema’, a track where i try to enlighten the youths about the dangers of those social ills which has become a new norm in the society,”said Tingz.

“I strongly condemn gender based violence, if a king finds a queen, he is obliged to show her nothing but real love thus i penned ‘Ndarohwa‘, a touching story of a girl child who turns to her mother crying that she is a victim of all sorts of gender based violence from her husband”,Tingz said.

To date, Tingz has worked with a lot of Zim finest dancehall artists among them popular chanter Lady Squanda ,on a track ‘We are taking over‘.

“That’s the way Jah planned it,” said Tingz when i asked how the project came together. The artists discovered their creative chemistry while recording the track ‘We are taking over‘, produced by popular music producer Kutso, the track topped on Power Fm’s dancehall ignition party hosted by Dj Smylie.

His manager Munyaradzi “Munyah” Muzvidziwa echoed similar sentiments saying that they have managed to embrace the deadly Covid-19 pandemic in a positive manner.

“During this Covid-19 lockdown we managed to set up a website for Tingz,a platform where promoters and fans can engage with Fire Army crew boss Tingz, show bookings and all latest songs, the site is still being revamped. (www.tingzmusic.co.zw),” said Munyah.

“We just need a chance to prove to the world how good our music is, we will be glad if Prophet Passion Java rope us in one of his Garamumba online live concerts that we can treat our fans in Zimbabwe and abroad with brand new Fire Army music,”Muzvidziwa said.
