Teachers demonstrates over low wages in Masvingo

Zimbabwean teachers under the banner of the Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (ARTUZ) took to the streets of Masvingo on Monday(today) to protest against the meager salaries that the civil servants are getting.

The teachers carried mock coffins written Rest in Peace my ZWL salaries and placards written Pay our police, Pay our soldiers they protect us they need decent salaries.

ARTUZ reported that the organisation’s  Gender Secretary for Masvingo province Sheila Chirisamhuru was arrested with 3 others during the launch of the national protest at Mucheke District Education offices.

The protest by teachers follows few days after doctors and nurses in Bulawayo and Harare staged mass protests.
