CAPS united Football Club showers players with grocery hampers

CAPS UNITED BUS

CAPS united football club yesterday showered its players with grocery hampers, including 50kg bags of maize meal as the club continuosly cushions players and technical staff during this Covid-19 induced lockdown.

Currently, the 2020 Premier Soccer League is at pause due to the deadly global Corona virus pandemic prolonging the start of the new season.

The Covid -19 induced lockdown came with numerous challenges, with some clubs paying their players half salaries.

CAPS united is among the clubs who have been negatively affected following the withdrawal of their main sponsor, NetOne.

NetOne, a mobile telecommunication giant, which has been financing the Green Machine, Highlanders,Chapungu and Black Rhinos withdrew their support in sport to join the rest of the corporate sector in fighting the global Covid -19 virus.

CAPS united have took a bold decision not to reduce their players’ salaries rather, the club’s executive are working tirelessly to source funds so as to keep their players and technical staff motivated during these trying times.

However, club vice-president Nhamo Tutisani was not available for comment yesterday, in an interview with 263 last week he vowed that they will do what ever it takes to keep their employees motivated.

“Firstly, I would like to reiterate that we will thrive to make sure that players get their full salaries in time every month,” said Tutisani.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has brought with it a new set of challenges on how top-flight teams are being run, the challenges haven’t spared us either,” he added.

“But, as a club, we will always try our best to keep our players and staff happy,” narrated Tutisani.

Nhamo Tutisani did not mince his words when he articulated that,”the lockdown is challenging, especially in terms of mindset, so we have to see to it that the staff get what they need in times like these”.

“Remember if the season was underway, they were supposed to be getting allowances, ranging from winning bonuses to travel,’’ he said.

A senior player, who prefered anonymity, articulated that ,this was a good move by their club officials.

“I am really grateful for this gesture. Our team has always tried their best to keep us motivated. We are very happy.’’

The grocery hampers were dropped off in Chitungwiza and other high density surbubs where the players reside.

Each player and official received a 50kg bag of maize meal and other groceries. Last month Makepekepe team were showered with grocery hampers courtesy of charitable, Mahwindo Foundation.
