His Excellency, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has declared 15 June 2020 as the Presidential National Day of Prayer and Fasting.
The prayerful event comes at a difficult time in which our beloved nation and the world at large is battling with the deadly Covid-19 pandemic which has left all global nations at stand still.
President Mnangagwa is cordially inviting all Zimbabweans to participate on this National Day of Prayer and Fasting seeking Divine intervention from Almighty God in these trying times.
“I am humbled to invite you all, in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to take time in prayer and fasting as a nation before the Almighty God, to seek His Mercy, wisdom,help and healing to overcome this deadly pandemic”,said President Mnangagwa.
President Mnangagwa took time to show the importance of seeking Divine mercy when he quoted the Biblical verse from the Book of Chronicles Chapter 7, verses 13-15.
“If i send a pestilence among My people; and My people who are called by My name shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now Mine eyes shall be open,and my ears attend to the prayer that is made in this place”, declared President.
” Standing on this scripture, i therefore, proclaim 15 June 2020 as the Presidential National Day of Prayer and Fasting,” President said.
The whole nation of Zimbabwe and church leaders from various denominations are cordially invited to join His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa via a televised broadcast on ZBC and other Social media platforms, for a church service to be hosted at State House from 10 am to 12 pm.
“From 10 am to 12 pm, i invite the whole nation to join me and church leaders from various denominations, via a live broadcast on ZBC and social media streams, for a church service which i shall host at State House,” President said.
President Mnangagwa did not mince his words when he articulated that church leaders are essential service providers in mitigating the spread of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic, he reinforced the notion that gatherings for the purpose of worship not exceeding fifty congregants are now allowed throughout Zimbabwe.
“I wish to acknowledge that our church leaders are essential personnel in preventing the spread of the Corona virus.Going forward gatherings for the purpose of worship not exceeding fifty congregants and observing all prescribed social distancing requirements are allowed throughout our nation”, said President Mnangagwa.
