President Mnangagwa emphasizes on quarantine

His Execellency, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has called upon residents in border communities to be bold enough on ensuring that all returnees from neighboring countries and abroad go through stipulated mandatory quarantine centres in a bid to stop the spread of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic.

In a speech read on his behalf during a tour of Tanganda Tea Company’s Tingamira Estate in Chipinge today by Minister of Defence and War Veterans, Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, President Mnangagwa reiterated that, “To date, statistics indicate that the majority of the country’s positive cases are returning residents from neighbouring countries and abroad. I call upon all communities in border areas to be vigilant by ensuring that returnees go through the mandatory quarantine centres”.

“Let us play our part in preventing the spread of the coronavirus by not taking any risks with the lives of our families, communities and the nation as a whole,” he said.

President Mnangagwa articulated that ,Government has since put in place stimulus measures to help sustain the productive sectors from the demand and supply shocks associated with the pandemic.

“Under the Covid-19 prevention measures, we made a deliberate decision to allow the agriculture sector and its associated value chains to continue operating throughout the various levels of the lockdown.

“I urge all other sectors which have since resumed their operations to observe the recommended social distancing, sanitisation and other health and safety requirements,” he said.
