
Tanda "Mhunga" Tavaruva
The Zanu PF leadership in Masvingo has unanimously agreed that the late prominent bus mogul Tanda “Mhunga” Tavaruva be accorded provincial liberation war hero status in recognition of the great works he did to support pre- and post independence Zimbabwe.
Tanda Tavaruva(84) succumbed to hypertension and diabetes at his posh Rhodene suburb on Monday afternoon after being bedridden for sometime.
One of his sons Godfrey Tavaruva confirmed that his late father has been accorded a provincial hero status and would be laid to rest on Thursday at Mangwandi cemetry in the ancient town.
“Tavaruva family has agreed that burial will take place on Thursday, and we have granted him his wish to be buried next to his late son Denis who is buried there and a grave had long been reserved for that,”said Godfrey Tavaruva.
Zanu PF Masvingo provincial Minister of state for Provincial Affairs Cde Ezra Chadzamira articulated that Zanu PF,Masvingo chapter has since applied to the party national headquaters requesting for Tavaruva to be accorded a provincial liberation war hero status.
